David’s First 90 Days Plan: A Strong Start for Grand Falls

My first 90 days as Mayor will be focused on setting a clear tone: decisive leadership, open communication, and immediate action on the priorities that matter most to our residents. This plan is about building momentum early and delivering real, visible progress.

Days 1–30: Setting the Foundation

1. Establish Clear Leadership and Accountability

  • Meet with senior municipal staff to review current operations, identify inefficiencies, and set performance expectations.
  • Begin a top-to-bottom review of processes to reduce delays and improve service delivery.
  • Introduce clear communication standards so residents receive timely and consistent responses.

2. Public Transparency and Communication Reset

  • Launch regular Mayor’s updates (weekly or bi-weekly) to keep residents informed.
  • Commit to open, honest communication about municipal decisions, challenges, and finances.
  • Schedule town halls and community listening sessions to hear directly from residents.

3. Set a clear plan for the Sports Complex. For too long, this project has been stalled. Residents have been clear about the need for a modern recreation facility, and it’s time to move forward.

  • The responsibility lies with the Mayor to work closely with provincial and federal partners to identify available funding opportunities and present viable options to council.
  • As your Mayor, I will make this a top priority - bringing leadership, urgency, and a clear path forward to get this project underway.

Days 31–60: Taking Action

4. Fast-Track Housing Solutions

  • Work with planning and development teams to identify bottlenecks in approvals.
  • Introduce changes to streamline permitting and reduce wait times for builders.
  • Engage with developers and housing partners to accelerate shovel-ready projects.

5. Address Homelessness with Real Solutions

  • Convene a working group with provincial partners, community organizations, and the private sector.
  • Develop a coordinated plan that combines enforcement with compassionate, wraparound supports for those struggling with addiction and mental health.
  • Expand partnerships to support families in need - ensuring no one is penalized for being poor.

6. Improve Internal Efficiency

  • Begin implementing best practices from the private sector to modernize operations.
  • Identify quick wins that can reduce red tape and improve how residents interact with the municipality.

Days 61–90: Driving Growth and Long-Term Impact

7. Economic Growth and Tourism Strategy

  • Launch a focused economic development task force to attract investment and create jobs.
  • Begin work on a tourism growth plan to showcase Grand Falls as a destination.
  • Meet with local business leaders to identify opportunities and barriers to growth.

8. Deliver on Transparency and Tough Decisions

  • Provide a public 90-day report outlining progress, challenges, and next steps.
  • Be clear and transparent about where I stand on key issues facing the community.
  • Begin making the tough but necessary decisions to move Grand Falls forward.

The Commitment

These first 90 days are about action, accountability, and building trust. From addressing homelessness, to fast-tracking the Sports Complex project and growing our economy, my focus will be on delivering results that residents can see and feel.

Grand Falls’ future is full of opportunity – and together, we will achieve it!
