Candidate for Mayor
Grand Falls / Grand-Sault

David Raines has a natural ability to inspire others and has dedicated his life to building strong, effective teams while mentoring those around him. His passionate leadership consistently brings out the best in people.

An engaging and highly effective leader, David’s energy is infectious. His trademark is driving positive change by empowering others to reach their full potential.

A Familiar Voice

David has been a familiar voice on 93.5 in Grand Falls for the past 7 years. His local connections have stimulated needed community conversation, and spurred action on critical issues facing our municipality. He put a spotlight on the serious lack of service from Ambulance New Brunswick which has lead to needed changes. David has also organized and assisted with many community based functions like the Potato Festival, Halloween events and the LED lighting at our falls, and has worked toward maximizing the efficiency with the operation of the municipality.

The Early Years

David grew up in a working-class family in Toronto. His father, an entrepreneur, instilled in him the values of fiscal responsibility and continuous improvement. His mother rose from a data entry position to upper management, teaching David how to treat colleagues with respect and navigate the corporate world. Together, these influences helped shape the leader he is today.

A Successful Career

In 2014, David moved to Grand Falls, where he quickly fell in love with the community – and met the love of his life.

After years in various leadership roles, he shifted direction in 2019 and found his true calling in radio. Since then, he has built a strong following as the host of the morning show on 93.5 The Wave.

Community, Service, Family.

David has served as President of the Grand Falls Potato Festival and as Game Day Coordinator for the Grand Falls Green Foot Rapids. He organized the Fall Festival with Tristen Gressett and launched the original Pumpkin Festival, which continues to thrive and has grown from 30 pumpkins to over 300 last year. He has also received numerous honours for his leadership and community service, including Citizen of the Year in 2024.

David has dedicated his life to serving Grand Falls, his colleagues, and especially his family. He has two sons and shares his life with his wife, Christina.
